The workshop focused on roadmap process that characterizes future research infrastructure collaboration goals and actions in the environmental field. There were about 25 attendees from US and Europe present in the workshop meeting including also NSF and EC representatives.
Roadmap process as also joint mission and concrete actions has been worked intensively forward during the autumn 2014 to map current research infrastructure landscape in both continents. In the workshop, first drafts of the research infrastructure landscape analyses from European and US side were introduced and discussed. A fruitful discussion of how to make the landscapes even more comprehensive and clear was taken place. Also ideas how to use landscapes as a tool for gap analysis, was discussed.
Work was also done forward related to mapping the level and timeline of collaboration of different infrastructures in EU and US. Benefits for users and research infrastructures were examined too. Input from the participants related to e.g. access policies for data, data identification, and documentation and integrity of data was discussed during the meeting.
COOPEUS roadmapping process and strategy development is going to continue in EGU Meeting in Vienna in April 2015.
